Why Camping Car?

Living in a camping car for a few weeks kind of ‘forces’ you to be close to other people, not only in a
physical sense, so it is also a good activity to do with friends as a long term ‘team building’ activity.
You cook together with friends or as a family, in this case, and you have lots of fun, which is most
important. It is very practical as well, because it is like a house on wheels, so you can even cook ‘on
the road’.

I find that one of the big profits is that you can go into a supermarket like any other person living in that
area, and buy anything they would, as well as see what there is available in that area (supermarkets are
very different in many countries.) If you were in a hotel you wouldn’t buy any food, and if you would, it
would probably just be a snack, meaning you will not get the whole range of things they have, for example
a jam made with berries that only grow there.

Furthermore, traveling in a camping car enables you to travel where you want, and you don't have to
rent a car. If you feel like it, you could also camp wild (and become more familiar with the national
flora and fauna), meaning you can stop anywhere at anytime (if it’s legal) which is also very practical
and adventurous.

You can stop anywhere you like for a short swim, as you can see here. You can also attach a string to make an area to hang your wet clothes.

I found that travelling around the south of Sweden in a camping car with my family was such a unique
experience, because it is not something you do every year, and you are living together with nature in a
way, especially when you go to ‘resorts’ or ‘camps’ which offer you a place for your car in the middle
of the forest and next to a lake, but you are not completely cut off and can ‘experience’ Swedish culture,
for example eating moose burgers in a traditional restaurant. Of course, not all camping resorts have
spaces available, which is why you should reserve a place or call in advance.

Conclusion

Overall, I would definitely urge you to at least try to go camping in a camping car for a few days, if not
a few weeks. The things you would do without a camping car are not as ‘real’ as what you would do
with a camping car. In a hotel, for example, you wouldn’t be in the nature, and you probably wouldn’t
even eat swedish food, but more “divine” dishes from other countries, which is not what you would
want. To get the full experience, you should camp wild, or at least in a resort with total natural surroundings.

Here we are driving by the shore of the Island of Gotland. We could have stopped anywhere and camped there, no matter what time it is- we had our home with us.
